Spanta and Støre sign joint statement

Afghan Minister for Foreign Affairs H.E. Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta and Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Jonas Gahr Støre, have signed a joint statement on cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries.

According to the joint statement, the Foreign Ministers of both countries are to consult each other yearly about political issues related to the areas of national, regional, and international interests.


In the meeting, which was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway, security issues, counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics were discussed.


Minister Støre assured Minister Spanta that Norway will continue supporting his country in the fields related to security and strengthening of the Government and the democratization-process in Afghanistan.


Minister Spanta pointed out that the support from Norway is fundamental in the fight against terrorism. Minister Spanta also gave confidence about the willingness of the Government of Afghanistan in implementing its international commitments.
