Afghanistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Jawed Ludin visits Norway
H.E. Jawed Ludin, Afghanistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, was invited by the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Center on International Cooperation of New York University to participate in the third round of the regional political dialogue on Afghanistan.

The meeting took place on June 23-24, 2011, at the Hotel Continental, in Oslo, Norway. The meeting was divided in to three sessions.
The first session was in relation to the U.S. – Afghanistan Strategic Partnership, a briefing from U.S. Department of Defense on the construction of military bases and other facilities in Afghanistan. The Office of the U.S. Secretary presented an unclassified briefing, specifically for the group in the meeting, on its plans and activities relating to the construction of military facilities of various kinds in Afghanistan. The purpose of this briefing was to provide preliminary answers to questions raised by participants in previous sessions about the implications of such construction for the future military presence of the U.S. in Afghanistan.
The second session was regarding the U.S. – Afghanistan Strategic Partnership Document, Regional Security, and Economic Cooperation.
The third session of regional dialogue on Afghanistan was on the subject of Reconciliation and Political Settlement.
The members of the “core group”, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the U.S., briefed the group on progress on reconciliation and their vision of the end state of the process.
