Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre visits Afghanistan
On Monday 27th June 2011, H.E. President Hamid Karzai, president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, met Norwegian Foreign Affairs Minister Jonas Gahr Støre at presidential palace in Kabul.
During the meeting which was attended by Dr. Zulmay Rasoul, Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister and Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta, Afghanistan’s National Security Advisor, both sides discussed peace and reconciliation process, transition of security responsibilities from foreign forces to Afghan security forces and Norwegian assistance to Afghanistan in various sectors and its continuation.
Jonas Gahr Støre, Norwegian Foreign Minister assured of his country’s long term cooperation with Afghan people. He also expressed his country’s interest having strategic relations with Afghanistan.
In response H.E. President Hamid Karzai, called Norway as friendly country of Afghanistan and praised Norway’s assistance to Afghanistan in the past ten years and emphasized on its continuation.
