Afghanistan Foreign Minister H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani, Met with Norwegian Ambassador in Kabul
H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani, Afghanistan Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the Norwegian Ambassador H.E. Erling Skjønsberg.
During the meeting the Norwegian Ambassador thanked H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani, for the opportunity to facilitated the meet and congratulated him on his appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and presented a letter from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Afghan Ministry of foreign Affairs.
H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani appreciated the support of Norwegian government in the fields of reform, good governance and implementation of development and humanitarian projects in Afghanistan and said: ”Our good relation with Norwegian government goes a long way and is historical. The Norwegian contribution in the last thirteen years was a sign of solid friendship between the two countries.”
H.E. salahuddin Rabbani while emphasizing on the role of Norway’s assistance for Afghanistan and said: “ Scandinavian countries, especially the Kingdom of Norway, not only in the last thirteen years, but has stood besides the government and the people of Afghanistan in the last couple of decades, which will never be forgotten by the people of Afghanistan.”
H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani mentioned the trip of civil and military authorities of Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Afghanistan and said that the National Unity Government of Afghanistan is honestly trying to reach peace and stability with Pakistan and has taken feasible steps towards this purpose. We hope to witness actual and feasible measures from Pakistan in strengthening peace and stability in Afghanistan, Pakistan and the region.
In response Norwegian Ambassador to Kabul, H.E. Erling Skjønsberg said: “Afghanistan has a special place in the Norwegian foreign policy and we are ready to support the National Unity Government in the economic, security, combating corruption, good governance as well as in strengthening peace and stability.”
