H.E. Noor Mohammad Qarqeen
Minister of Work, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled
Noor Mohammad Qarqeen was born in the Jowjan Province in 1954. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Law from Kabul University in 1978. In 1978 he served at the Ministry of Education as a member of the Uzbek and Turkmen Studies Department. He has also worked as the Director of Silo of Balkh province and Director of Gas of Hairatan
Mr. Qarqeen is actively involved in promoting the study of Turkmen and Uzbek languages in Afghanistan. He served as a commissioner of the Emergency Loya Jirga in 2002, and was appointed Minister of Labor and Social Affairs under the Transitional Government. He resigned in September 2004 to serve as Director of the electoral campaign for H.E. President Hamid Karzai. He speaks Dari, Pashto, Turkmeni and Uzbeki.
