Oslo, Norway

On behalf of the people, the government, and the Embassy of Afghanistan, I express my deepest condolences to the people of Norway for the loss of a Norwegian soldier in Afghanistan.

The soldier who was a part of the Norwegian led PRT Task Unit was killed earlier today by a roadside explosion on their way to a link up with fellow soldiers from the Afghan National Army in Ghormach district of Faryab province.

The people of Afghanistan are grateful towards the people of Norway for their generous support to Afghanistan and for their commitment to the cause of peace and development in the world. The sacrifice offered by the Norwegian soldier exemplifies this deep commitment, and the Afghan people honour his memory.

We send our deepest condolences to the Norwegian people and government, and the family and friends of the brave soldier.
