H.E. Ambassador Manizha Bakhtari visits Finland

Ambassador Manizha Bakhtari presented her credentials as non-resident Ambassador of Afghanistan to H.E. Tarja Halonen, President of the Republic of Finland on 6th of May 2010.

Ambassador Manizha Bakhtari traveled to Finland on 5th of May 2010. During her three days official visit to Helsinki H.E. Ambassador Manizha Bakhtari presented her credentials to H.E. Tarja Halonen, President of the Republic of Finland.

H.E. Ambassador Manizha Bakhtari was officially accredited by the President of the Republic of Finland  Tarja Halonen, on 6th of May 2010.

During the meeting with H.E. Tarja Halonen President of Finland, Ambassador Manizha Bakhtari, conveyed H.E. President Hamid Karzai’s gratitude and the appreciation of the Afghan people for generous contribution of the Finland towards the reconstruction of Afghanistan.

Throughout her visit to Helsinki, Ambassador Bakhtari had separate meetings with Minister for Foreign Affairs, Interior Minister, Minister of Migration and European Affairs and other Finish authorities.

During her meeting with Mr. Alexander Stubb, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland, they discussed various issues of mutual interest including expanding and strengthening of bilateral relations between Finland and Afghanistan. Ambassador Bakhtari also requested the possibility of a Finish Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) establishment in one of the Provinces of Afghanistan.

In the meeting with the Interior Minister, Ms. Anne Elisabeth Holmlund, Ambassador Bakhtari discussed the ongoing international efforts in Afghanistan with the focus on the achievements of the past eight years as well as ongoing challenges. They have also discussed the possibility of different ways to tackle the current security problems in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Ambassador Bakhtari expressed welcomed the Advanced Police-Prosecutor Coordination Training Programme and appealed for more assistance on training of Afghan police forces.    

During the meeting with Ms. Astrid Thors, Minister of Migration and European Affairs, Ambassador Bakhtari discussed the problems of Afghan immigrants in Finland and outline further bilateral cooperation.

Friday, 7th of May 2010, Ambassador Manizha Bakhtari met with the representatives of Afghans communities in Finland and discussed the problems of Afghan immigrants. She also attended two round table discussions, organized by Finland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Gender Equality and Afghanistan.

On the last day of her official visit, Ambassador Bakhtari attended a press conference at the Ministry Foreign Affairs of Finland and talked about the current situation of Afghanistan. During the Press conference she also point out the achievements of Afghanistan in the course of last eight years. She also provided information about the strategy of Afghan government combating the current challenges.
