LILLEHAMMER: Through dialogue- military, police, peace workers and politicians from Norway, Afghanistan and Serbia/Kosovo will get to understand each others opinion and perception of the consequences of intervening in another country.
-The relationship between Serbs and Albanians, to take an example, is probably more hostile now, than it was before NATO sent troops to the area, says Steinar Bryn, who leads the Dialogue project at the Nansen School.
The main theme of the conference was the war in Afghanistan.
- It is the first time since 1945 that Norway sends armed forces to a foreign country. We wish to create a meeting space where we openly can discuss the different aspects of this issue. Why do we not send more police than military, asks Dag Hareide, Principal at the Nansen School.
Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Norway, Jawed Ludin, argues that it is important that the international forces are present.
- You are fighting for a bigger cause than Norway. Terrorism is a common enemy, and affects the whole world, he stated during the opening of the conference.
